Amanda Scotland – Not Quite Write

Amanda first approached flash fiction as an accessible path back to creativity after a tragic family event left her without the time or energy to finish her novel-in-progress. She became an instant devotee when she won the Australian Writers’ Centre’s Furious Fiction competition in August 2021. Since then, she has frequently longlisted in flash and micro fiction competitions, earning publication in titles such as Ellipsis Zine and Nightmare Fuel. Amanda now hosts and judges a 500-word international flash fiction competition via the Top 10 ranked podcast, Not Quite Write. These anthologies comprise the winning entries from the first 3 years of the competition, featuring an eclectic assortment of tales to suit every mood.

Anisa Worthington

Stories are everywhere in this world, timeless constructs that help society develop and grow. So, it’s about time we listened, don’t you think? Anisa Worthington is a fantasy and contemporary fiction author. She writes stories that are inherently about magic and love, weaving one or, often, both elements into her stories. Because that’s what she believes storytelling is. Magic. Ever since she was young, she’s had this unwavering belief. She credits Rick Riordan, Shakespeare, and the many musicals her mother would play on repeat for this belief, too. From growing up in Texas, USA, to settling in Sydney, NSW, reading, analysing, and imagining stories has been a constant in Anisa’s life. If she isn’t sitting beside her dog with her nose buried in a book – either reading or providing an editing service – she’s listening to she’s listening to music and daydreaming about future fantastical adventure stories.

Bookboyfriend (Vendor)

Hi, I’m Samantha, the creator of Book Boyfriend, a fully immersive romance book box experience designed to bring your favourite fictional characters off the page and into your world. As a lifelong romance reader, I’ve always fallen hard for fictional heroes, so I created something that lets readers truly feel the story, not just read it. Each box blends scent, touch, and carefully curated details to create a multi-sensory experience that makes you feel like the main character. At the fair, visitors can build their own Book Boyfriend, choosing his shirt, scents, words and extra gifts to spoil you, creating a personalised romance experience to take home.

Greg Mutton

I live on the mid-north coast of New South Wales, Australia in a quiet bayside village with my wife, son and 3 cats. My stories are about people who rise to the challenge, all with a distinct “Aussie” flavour. No matter how advanced we become, no matter what technology we invent, human beings will always define their existence by their actions, both individually and collectively. My stories explore the real physical and metaphysical abilities people have, but may have forgotten over the ages. Action features in all my stories. I use examples from life – emotions, love, despair, romance – all are infused into the characters and plots. I build worlds and civilisations that are “real” and credible. As an author, I enjoy using literary licence to create stories and worlds, including alien species, and possible future technologies. As one of the greats of Science Fiction once said, “Whatever man can imagine, he will eventually do.”

When I am not writing I love reading, more reading, walking the dog, craft activities and good movies. One day I am sure I will grow up, but hopefully not too soon. Sara Powter

In 1968, my grandfather moved in with us, and he told us of bushrangers, convicts and his childhood. His stories began a lifelong passion for our colonial past. Many years later, my mum, Sheila Hunter,  turned some of the family stories into novels. When she died in 2002, she left me three nearly finished manuscripts and a fourth started.  Shortly before we retired in 2020, just before the 3rd COVID-19 lockdown, I finally had time to write. By Christmas that year, I had completed two novels and started on mum’s unfinished manuscript. Since then, I have kept writing. I have just released #24 and am nearing the finish of writing book #32. 26 books have been published. The passion has become an obsession. All the stories have a setting of accurate Australian History, but with an added love story.
